things i've learned

It's been slightly pass the halfway mark that I've been here in Boston, and I've grown to love it and call Boston "home". But this is not meant to be a nostalgic post; I shall attempt to make it funny, or at least somewhat amusing. :)

Being here for 3 months, I've got to at least have learned something about Boston, right? RIGHT.

1. Massachusetts roads don't make any sense.
2. Massachusetts drivers are called Mass-holes. Or so I'm told.
3. Traffic lights are a suggestion.
4. Roads in Mass are sometimes divided by the train track. To get on the other side, you need to cross those tracks. You see Mass-holes attempting to do so, and getting a loud blasted honk from an oncoming train because, they apparently don't have a good sense of judgment.
5. People here are fit. They are health nuts, or something. Always jogging, in the gyms, people are a size 0-2 or a 4, and I've yet to see an obese person. DAMN YOU BOSTON. Pressure. Heh.
6. Red bricks FTW!
7. Half the people in Boston are from Jersey. I swear.
8. I've yet to hear the Boston accent. Pak your cah?
9. Boston has an amazing public transportation system <3
10. Old people, or faint hearted people should not drive in Boston. You'd get honked every 5 minutes. Or, "SCREWYOUMASSHOLEEEE!*&^#(_@*&!!!!".
Okay. So I made that last part up. :P
11. JAYWALKING FTW!
12. PMS weather. It can be sunny one day and horribly cold the next.

13. Things in Boston are generally more expensive than other places. But still affordable.14. NO WET TOILETS!15. They laugh at me for saying toilet, torchlight, lift, bathe, and other words which they don't think are "English".16. It is an amazing place for photography. 17. Intellectual hub: BC, BU, MIT, Harvard, MCP, Northeastern, Berklee, Tufts, and other universities which I can't recall. 18. I <3 Boston :):) 19. I realized, half the things about Boston are about the drivers and roads. 20. And you just scrolled up to see if 19. was true. Heh. :D21. Today's a beautiful day. Woke up to see snow in the yard, on the roads and the stairs leading up to houses.

I walk around everywhere, and I see art. And there's such a longing to capture on camera what I see through my eyes. I can just imagine the tone, the lighting, the spacial effects that the image is supposed to have.

Boston is a beautiful place for photography.
Boston College is a beautiful place for photography.

Will be off for KRUP in a few hours. 30 hour bus ride!

*Andrew continues to ignore the window and proceeds to try to answer my question about an article*

C: Do you know where Suyin is?

Andrew: DAMMIT. It's like my only purpose in life is to locate the bugger! I should marry the felar. At least if I'm her husband, THEN you can ask me where she is.

I finally know what I want to do when I graduate.
I want to: 1. Work in a reputable fashion magazine as an editor/features writer/PR consultant. 
Need to start building up my portfolio NOW! Photography skills, PS skills, need to read up on famous fashion designers & editors, look for internships in US/Malaysia. Need to also expand my knowledge of fashion and its industry, and what the job entails. READ FASHION BLOGS! Lookbooks, magazines, online boutiques :D 
Fuh. A lot of stuff to do in this one and a half years. Meh. It's all going to be worth it! :D 

Stuffs: 1

Am going out for breakfast soon with Andrew & Melissa. Sigh. Andrew. By the time you come, it's already brunch and not breakfast anymore =.=
Going to shop today! Alone :D Or see if I can get a girlfriend to come. Sigh ChristinaLeong. Wish you were here. SaraLai too! We shop together. I should write down my shopping list since I don't want to overspend today for the month.
Budget: RM701. Brown satchel that has dual straps:- sling, or don't sling also can, depending. Haha.2. Hoop earrings; saw really nice ones at F21. (: 3. Thin hairband.4. Necklace (?) Maybe not this month lol. 
Don't know how I'm going to fit that into a RM70 budget but I'm sure I can. Bag must not be more than RM50. Haha!
p/s: Note to self:- shop for versatility! 

Oh, Happy Day!

Today was an amazing day, with so many random blessings throughout. I'll list the things that made my day down because there are so many (:

1. Global Cultures lecture ended an hour earlier. Yay!
2. Someone *ahem* has a broad chest. And it was right in my face. Eye level. Woah sei.
3. Because lecture ended early, I could have lunch with Andrew (:
4. Finished all my readings on time for tutes.
5. Told people stories of my bimbotic-ness today and made them laugh loudly :D
6. Jarrod bought a couple of orange mango sorbets for us who were sitting at the booth, and it was awesome!
7. Got to talk to someone very dear to me in the morning (:
8. Mom didn't cook for me today because I told her not to. But Dad gave me some of his portion to eat cos he knew I love spaghetti. :')
9. Had a little girl talk with Carmen in our little secret corner (:

Random note/blessing: I was walking out of Monash in the heavy drizzle/rain and had to walk for quite a bit to get to my dad's car, which was on the opposite side of the road and was stuck in a jam. I put a book on top of my head as I walked because it was starting to rain quite heavily, and I was just thinking to myself, "*sigh*. If only there was a guy who'd shield me from the rain with an umbrella now".

I was quite resigned to the fact that I wouldn't have any chivalrous man do that for me, until a car door opened and a man came out and offered me an umbrella (':

Woah. Super made my day.
Thank you random stranger, whoever you are. You've helped reassure me that there still are good men around. (':

Rainy day. But an amazing day, with countless blessings (: 

p/s: Thank You God, for all the random-est, little-est blessings in my life. And thank You for reminding me that the little things in life are important as well. Thank You that even when I walk out on the street in the rain, you protect me and make sure I'm okay and that I'm not wet. Thank You for that man with the umbrella. (':

Day 13- Something Funny

Well. More specifically, the challenge today is a memory that always makes me laugh.
I don't know. Probably about everything and anything that Andrew Chua does. His pranks. HAHA. Too bad I don't have pictures :(

Day 3- Songs for the Desert Island Trip!

I hate doing song playlists! Because a lot of my songs are instrumental kinds, and they're not like funky funky ones. So I really don't know what to choose. :/

Yeap. The one that was constantly played on ntv7 :P I mean. A deserted island. Uninhabited by anyone. I need to constantly uplift myself and remind myself that I FEEL GOOD YO!

2. Jar Of Hearts by Christina Perri
Emo song. Just because it suits the whole desert island scene. Perfect for an MV!

3. Pirates of the Carribean soundtrack
Just because I might want to do a bit of role-playing with my own self. Then I have some theme song to accompany me when I'm pretending that I'm some swashbuckling pirate on an island.

To remind me of what I'm missing back home in the city. BTW. I'm a city girl. I don't like going to Langkawi and whatnot with nothing to do, except being surrounded in awe of nature =.= NYC YO!

On a random note. my favourite worship song of all time is The Heart of Worship. It really resonates within me. Maybe cos I identified with Matt Redman about worship and all.
Boy did I learn my lesson ever since. (:

On another random note...

So, my heart really bleeds. It bleeds for the Myanmarese guy who sells spicy chicken thigh at Monash.

I always buying spicy chicken thigh (yes, again!) from this guy, and he always gives me a really nice smile. So I chatted with him yesterday and I found out that he goes to this Myanmarese church somewhere in Sunway, and today I found out that sometimes he goes to pray in FGA. Woah so far.

But that's besides the point.

He's always so cheerful lor, besides the fact that he's been away from Myanmar for 5 years, doing a menial job (which may not be the only one), leaving his family back home in Myanmar and all. Yet he seems to take every day with this stride that comes with such joy that radiates from him. Really lah. Every time I buy something from him, my heart aches. It aches for all the other Myanmarese refugees and all who come to Malaysia and work so hard, learn to adapt so quickly, and yet, are still content with what they have.

<3- heartbreak. 

So yeah. I really like this Myanmarese guy. I would love to be able to sit down, buy him a drink and just listen to his stories, or whatever he wants to tell me. Or just treat him to a nice lunch or something. And introduce him to many of my other awesome friends.

And he blessed me with extra bits of chicken! Man. I feel like tearing up. :'(
That aside. I was really blessed, even by talking to him. The little random blessings in life. (:

p/s: To all Monash-ians who buy snacks from the aunty, try talking to him sometimes. I think it might really make his day, and it will really teach us a lesson, and bless both parties in some way or another (: 

The Girl Book

So. I am super excited about The Girl Book. Like Carmen said, we need to find a better name for it. But aiyoh, that aside, it's so cool! Like. Sleepover talks compiled into a small notebook. I would so buy it if it was published.

Mirror Mirror On The Wall

Had an inter-KG outing today! Sara's KG + mine. :D So fun! Spaghetti buffet, with Johanan always not getting his pasta order :/ & Brandon's house for Guitar Hero!

Massive jam today because of the road blocks. So we prayed. And we got back from Setia Alam to Subang without much jam. Woohoo! Quite clear lah actually the whole way. And we got stuck in Pyramid because of the jam in Subang. Ironic much?
